Thawed Out
Another month has passed since I stopped by these parts, but I've been pretty busy. As I mentioned in my last post, I joined my friend Jack's hardcore band Thawed Out about a month ago to step in for Bobby, who last week went off and joined the Navy. After 4 or 5 practices (every Tuesday night at World Studios in D.C.) with the band, I'm finally starting to feel more comfortable and familiar with everything. The biggest adjustment I've had to make is just getting my right hand back up to speed; it's seriously fast and hard music--a far cry from my own acoustically inclined stuff, but fun as all hell to play. I'm not all the way to the point where I can go a full set without some minor cramping in my rhythm hand just yet...but I'm at least developing some serious lower right arm muscle.
Anyway, I wanted to give everyone--anyone?--who's interested a chance to check out some Thawed Out jams. Here's the link to our Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/thawedoutdc ...it's got all 3 songs from the most recent EP. Check 'er out!
Should be a Thawed Out show in Baltimore, May 17th. Will keep y'all posted.
