For starters, this is a first for me: I'm insta-blogging an event that just occurred via iPhone!
Anyway, Jeremy Z., an old friend from back in my middle school era, with whom I jammed (and demolished a talent show) even back then, just left after a CRUCIAL all-acoustic jam session! The setlist, as I can recall it:
1. "Rocky Top" (Osborne Brothers)
2. "Pride & Joy" (Stevie Ray Vaughn)
3. (random blues jam Jeremy made up in A)
4. "You and Whose Army?" (Radiohead) [John Frusciante style]
5. (random country jam Jeremy made up in D)
6. "John Wayne Gacy, Jr." (Sufjan Stevens) [Johnny Cash style]
7. "It Ain't Me, Babe" (Bob Dylan) [Johnny Cash Style]
8. "I Feel Just Like a Child" (Devendra Banhart)
9. "To Be Young (Is To Be Sad, To Be High)" (Ryan Adams)
10. "Helter Skelter / Give Peace a Chance" (The Beatles / John Lennon) [medley]
Somewhere during the course of our jam session, Jeremy and I came up with the idea of trying to record/write with me on acoustic 12-string, and he on the semi-hollow Danelectro through a Boss DD-5 digital delay, with E-bow AND slide, into my heavily reverb-ed Marshall. We shall undertake our first such experiment tomorrow.
